Paul Skidmore, Ninth District Alderperson

Recently I announced that I am running for re-election as Alder in Madison's Ninth District. I have worked on issues important to you over the past four years, and I hope to continue to represent you for a third term as your voice on the Common Council. Even though I am running un-opposed, I am again asking for your support and vote.

I live with my wife on Red Maple Trail (in Tamarack Trails). I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. I work as a landscape architect and project manager in the Madison area. I have education and experience in urban planning, park planning and design, site development, and neighborhood planning.

I am currently a member of the Madison Park Commissioner, Public Safety Review Board, and the Commission on People with Disabilities. I was a long-time member, and former president, of the Madison Park commission. I have experience working with the Police and Fire Departments and their officers on issues related to public safety in our community. I work closely with officers on issues related to public safety in our community. I work closely with neighborhood associations and local businesses on a variety of important local issues. I consider myself politically moderate and independent.

The Issues

I am actively working on a number of major issues that are important to both the City of Madison and the neighborhoods of the Ninth District:

City Wide Issues:

Balancing Property taxes vs Public services

Managing the City Budget and Keeping the Tax Levy Reasonable

Providing appropriate Public Safety Services (Police/Fire/EMS)

Managing future growth and transportation systems

Providing reasonable affordable housing

Providing reasonable public transit

Ninth Distric Issues:

Providing adequate public safety and security

Additional Police Patrol Officers

Additional EMS Ambulance and fire Station

Support for neighborhoods and residents

Managing traffic and speeding

Provide Adequate Public works services (snow, leaves, brush, etc.)

I would like to know your opinions on what the important issues in the City and District are. If you would like to express your opinion, make a suggestion, talke to me, or invite me to meet your neighborhood association, contact me at 829-1921/

I hope that you will support me on election day!

Please vote on April 5! Thank you.
